Dr. David Weeks concluded in his book,
Eccentrics, that eccentrics are nonconforming, highly creative, curious, idealistic, intelligent, opinionated, and obsessed with some hobby. Nonetheless, spending time alone is not a problem for true eccentrics; they thrive on it. Indeed, by Maslow's standards, eccentrics have many of the same traits as self-actualized people. Their important traits are high self-esteem, self-confidence, and a sense of freedom.
